Hair Breakage
Just like the skin on our bodies, your hair is made up of layers. The outer layer of the hair is called the cuticle and it is made up of cells that are dead and that lay on top of each other. This will protect the cortex, which is the middle layer of the hair. The cortex is made up of coiled long proteins, which is the make-up of most of the hair. Breakage and split ends occur when the cuticle protection is won away. When it wears away at the tip it is called a split end as the hair splits or unravels. Hair breakage and split ends happen less when hair is not dried out and it moist and healthy. By taking care of your hair, you can drastically reduce the chances of hair breakage and split ends.

Hair damage can also be caused by any of the following:
* Lack of Water, internally and externally
* Lack of Vitamins
* Stress
* Not moisturizing and conditioning regularly or using wrong products on your hair type
* Not having your split ends trimmed before they run up each hair shaft
* Improper application of chemicals, such as over processing
* Overlapping chemicals when you touch up a color or a perm
* Using too much heat from a blow dryer, flat iron or curling iron
* Tight braids, weaves, or roller styles
* Wearing rubber bands in your hair
* Not protecting hair from the sun
* Friction, not protecting hair with silk or satin scarf while sleeping or not protecting the Nap of your hair line from wool garments in the winter
* Some medications. Illnesses.

Hair Shedding

Understanding the difference between breakage and shedding is an important every healthy hair regimen. Many people use these terms interchangeably to refer to any hair that falls from the head. However this is not true. Shed hair has reached the end of its growing cycle and naturally falls from the scalp along with its root attached. The root is a tiny white bulb on the scalp’s originating end. If a hair does not possess this white bulb, then it is not a naturally shed hair, rather, a broken one. Shed hair tends to be longer in length than broken hairs, which are generally short pieces of varying lengths. Shedding is a natural process, breakage is not.Breakage is an indication of an imbalance within the hair strand. Broken hairs are typically a sign of mishandling, abuse, or something going on internally (medications, lack of enough water, etc.).
The best regimen to combat Hair Breakage is nourishing the body from the inside out... and Biotin Vitamins are the best supplements on the market that promote healthy hair growth... Also you must drink a lot of Water and keep your hair well hydrated with water..Remember the temperature should always be cool...Hot water drys out the skin and scalp resulting in breakage at the hair shaft.. Remember COOL water is best for the skin and hair......Also stay away from heated products including dryers, flat irons and pressing combs...Too much and frequent heat on Natural Hair is extremely drying and will destroy your curl pattern thus resulting in excessive shedding....And lastly, Products....learning the best products on your hair is a matter of trial and error...before venturing to the BSS to purchase the "latest" hair products... consult the company and request a "trial or sample size" or obtain from your local BSS..this is the best way to try a product for FREE or for under $1USD before committing to a full size product. Remember Nourishment is key and always consult a physician if excessive breakage persists.....
Benefits of adding Avocado Fruits to your Hair Regimen.......

Avocado has become a useful ingredient for our daily skin care routine. It is rich in fat as well as protein. These fats are monounsaturated which is good for a healthy heart. The provision of Vitamin E in Avocado helps the heart to remain fit. It is also known to supply 60% more potassium in comparison to banana.
It is also rich in fiber, foliate (folic acid), Vitamin B6, Iron, Copper and Magnesium. Other than applying avocado on your skin, consuming it in salad form can also be beneficial for your skin. Avocado as a deep conditioner is great on 4B grade hair because it contains vitamins like A, D, and E which has penetrating qualities to improve your skin and leaves your hair hydrated, moisturized and incredibly soft. Works Best after hair is Pre-poo, Washed and then Deep Conditioned........Here's my favorite Avocado Deep Conditioner

*1 Avocado
*1 Tbsp EVOO
*1 Tsp Baking Soda
*1 Tsp Black Seed Oil
*1 Tsp Tea Tree Oil
*1 Tsp Rosemary
*1 Tsp Almond Essence
*3 Tbsp Favorite Conditioner, I used John Frieda Nourishing Conditioner
*2 Tbsp Sauve Humectant

Blend the Avocodo separately in a mini food processor or use a hand mixer until blended smooth and no lumps are visible. Add the other ingredients and blend until a "smoothie type" consistency.... Place on hair from root to tip, adding a little more on the ends and cover with a plastic cap. Sit under the dryer or use a hot towel for as long as you can stand it...Wash out with your favorite "light" conditioner....Detangle and Style as Usual......
